If you live in Philadelphia, MS and you're dealing with symptoms of vein disease, the Vein Institute offers venous reflux ultrasound close to home. Our nearest office to Philadelphia is in Meridian, where Dr. J. Keith Thompson and our clinical team diagnose and treat vein conditions using modern, minimally invasive methods.
A painless in-office imaging exam that identifies abnormalities in the leg veins before a treatment plan is recommended.
A venous reflux ultrasound is a painless imaging exam used to identify abnormalities in the leg veins and confirm whether blood is flowing backward (reflux) instead of toward the heart. At the Vein Institute, this exam is performed by Callie Flowers, our Clinical Manager and Certified Vascular Sonographer, often during the same visit as your consultation.

Philadelphia patients often come to the Vein Institute with one or more of these symptoms or questions about reflux ultrasound:
Your visit begins with a straightforward check-in, followed by time with your provider to go over your symptoms and concerns. Most patients also have an ultrasound exam the same day, which helps confirm the diagnosis before any treatment is recommended.
There is no downtime after an ultrasound. Patients are asked to change into shorts (disposable shorts are provided if needed) so the sonographer can access the legs, and results help guide which treatment, if any, is recommended.
Patients from Philadelphia choose the Vein Institute because our Meridian office is approx. 48 mi (about 60 min) away and is staffed by a board-certified vein specialist rather than a general practice that treats veins occasionally. Dr. J. Keith Thompson is double board-certified in general and vascular surgery and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.
Our clinical team includes a double board-certified vascular surgeon, a Certified Vascular Sonographer with more than 18 years of vein ultrasound experience, and a Nurse Practitioner trained directly by Dr. Thompson in sclerotherapy — all focused exclusively on vein care.
